A letter from a parent:
As with anything there are costs in nurturing a quality learning experience, some of which include: instrument tuning, repair and replacement; purchasing sheet music, reeds, percussion equipment; hiring guest artists to broaden our sons’ and daughters’ learning experience; and transportation to and from the local events in which the bands and choir participate. The program receives a modest budget from the school board, and other costs have been funded mainly from at-the-door donations during the four in-school concerts.
We would like to offer parents and supporters the chance to do things a little differently this year! The proposed 2014/15 Rockridge Music Supporter Program will be introduced at the Meet the Teacher Night as a three-tiered donation program:
- First tier: $25. This donation is the same amount as the optional PAC fee listed on the student fee statements. This first tier donation can, at the discretion of the donor, be considered a directed PAC donation.
- Second tier: $50. As with the first tier, this would also be considered a directed donation, and would constitute a ‘season’s pass’ to the year’s concerts – Christmas Concert, Jazz Cafe, One Final Note, and our Zone Band and Choral Concerts.
- Third tier: $100. Directed donation, and constitutes a ‘season’s pass’ for two people, plus 2 tickets for Haunted: A Musical Spooktacular, the West Vancouver Youth Band’s Hallowe’en Concert, Monday, October 27th at 7pm. (There is a limited number of these tickets and they must be claimed by October 24).
Please write a cheque, made out to Rockridge Secondary School, in the amount you choose. Tax receipts can be arranged, but a form needs to be completed. Here it is: Donation Receipt Info RO Music (These cheques must be made payable to SD45.)
